MOM's
Living in one of the poorest countries in the world poses many challenges for children, and it’s even more challenging if you are an orphan. In Malawi, 14 percent of children under the age of 18 are classified as orphans having lost one or both parents.
At MOMs, we currently care for 20 children on a full-time basis, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment to thrive in.
Our generous donors and sponsors ensure that every child has access to nutritious meals, a comfortable bed, and education. Most importantly they know that they are loved, and we help them understand their worth and identity in Jesus Christ. Our goal is to give them hope and the tools to build a brighter future.

History Of MOMs
In 2007, Gary Jamar, a pastor from Oklahoma, founded Malawi Orphan Ministries, which started as a feeding program in Malawi. In 2012, Gary had a dream of a young boy asking him to come and help him. The next morning, at a feeding program in the village of Chikhu, he saw the boy in his dream from the night before. The vision of building an orphanage was birthed, and in 2013, God provided 16 acres on Lake Malawi, and the work began. We were introduced to Gary in 2018, and in early 2024, we learned that Gary had become ill and had not visited the orphanage in several years. In September of 2024, we visited the orphanage for the first time and learned that MOMs was in jeopardy of closing. After numerous conversations with the US board for MOMs, Door of Hope was asked to take over running the orphanage, and legal papers were filed in Malawi and in the US.
