Our Mission
Door of Hope exists to connect compassionate people with opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardship. Our mission is to raise awareness of needs within our local communities and around the world while providing practical ways for individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners to respond.
Through the generous giving of time, talents, and financial resources, we help provide relief, restore hope, and demonstrate the love of Christ to those experiencing poverty, crisis, disaster, and other difficult circumstances. By building strong partnerships and empowering others to serve, Door of Hope seeks to bring lasting hope and tangible assistance to people in need—locally, nationally, and internationally.
Our Goals
To Prepare
individuals with the knowledge, training, and practical skills needed to compassionately serve those affected by poverty and natural disasters while reflecting the love, integrity, and values of the Kingdom of God in every act of service.
To Partner
with churches and local ministries to build a unified, Christ-centered network that shares the Good News of Jesus Christ while demonstrating His love through compassionate service to widows, orphans, and all those in need of hope. Together, we seek to strengthen communities by meeting both spiritual and practical needs.
To Provide
meaningful opportunities for volunteers to use their God-given knowledge, skills, abilities, and spiritual gifts in service to others through local ministry initiatives and short-term mission projects. By connecting willing hearts with genuine needs, we empower individuals to make a lasting impact while growing in their faith and service to Christ.
Door of Hope operates an upscale resale store called Renewed Resale in Alma, Michigan that sells both new and used clothing, furniture, appliances, tools, hardware, home decor and a line of recycled paint.
Renewed Resale provides families throughout Mid-Michigan with high-quality merchandise at affordable prices while serving a greater purpose. Every purchase helps fund the local, national, and international ministries of Door of Hope, allowing us to expand our impact and maintain a sustainable source of support. This model not only generates ongoing funding for our mission but also reduces reliance on continual fundraising, helping to minimize donor fatigue while creating lasting benefits for the communities we serve.
Although Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, it truly lives up to its reputation as the "Warm Heart of Africa," with the warmth, generosity, and resilience of its people shining through despite the challenges they face.
