Overview

Our ministry model is different than many other ministries in that we partner with other local ministries who are bringing Hope to people in Gratiot County by supporting them financially. Instead of replicating the services of ministries who are already helping people in our community, we believe that partnering with and supporting them financially makes them stronger and helps ensure their success and longevity. We believe it’s a model that strengthens our community.

Local projects supported by Door of Hope in Gratiot County include the ministries of Love in the name of Christ, Hope House (Homeless shelter), the food pantry at the Office of Human Services (Gratiot County Hunger Network), and job training through Michigan Works. Door of Hope also began an Affordable Housing Initiative that helped a low-income veteran in Gratiot County purchase their first home.

Nationally Door of Hope regularly supports the work of Convoy of Hope as they minister to communities in the United States and around the world who have experienced natural disasters. Convoy of Hope operates as first responders after a natural disaster by providing needed items and direct support to those who are hurting.

Internationally Door of Hope is working in Malawi, Africa. In January of 2025 we were asked to take over an orphanage in the rural village of Chikhu on the shores of Lake Malawi. MOMs (Malawi Orphan Ministries) cares for 20 children. In addition, MOMs operates a feeding program that provides one meal a day during the school year for children who attend school from the nearby village of Chikhu.

Door of Hope achieved 501c3 status in 2013.  While DOH is a faith-based Christian ministry, we are not affiliated with a church or a denomination.
